www.left4dead411.com reports that: Valve has just issued a press release saying that a new game mode called "Survival" will be released this Spring along with Dead Air and Death Toll for Versus mode and the SDK.
The first major update for Left 4 Dead has been released, fixing a lot of exploits, bugs, and empowering the Smoker and Hunter. Check out all the changes below:
Left 4 Dead has been updated with a host of fixes, tweaks and new features, including enhancements to Versus mode for improved competitive play. The full change list is below. For PC users the update will be applied automatically via Steam. Meanwhile, the update will be made available to Xbox 360 players in the coming weeks.
General
- Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only.
- Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players.
- Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch.
- Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises.
- Improved loading time.
- Fixed mini-gun physics exploit.
- Fixed propane tanks (and other physics objects) causing players to fall through elevators.
- Fixed rare achievement bug issues.
- Fixed several map exploits.
- Fixed various match making issues.
- Fixed NAT traversal issues.
Versus Changes
- Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players.
- Changed color of infected player name in chat to red.
- Fixed exploit where players could spawn infected bots
- Fixed instance where a Survivor changing to the infected team would be attacked by infected bots.
- Normalized special infected melee damage.
- Made the following client commands cheat protected: "Kill" and "explode".
- Fixed exploit where infected players could run away and teleport back to gain health.
- Players can only change teams once per map.
- Players can't change teams while other players are still loading.
- Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode.
- Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route.
- Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch.
- Fixed team swap issue.
Hunter
- Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing.
- Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does.
Smoker
- Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance.
- Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break.
- Survivor's cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
- Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer.
- Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time.
- Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
- Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts.
- Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors.
Tank
- Bashable objects now appear with a red glow.
- Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently.
- Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists.
- Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks.
Witch
- Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams.
- Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank.
- Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors.

Just a note to confirm that absinthe have joined AftershocK on the disabled list. Another team crippled by inactivity as people spread their time around other things. Most have joined shotz..which now gives us 2 active teams for people to have fun with atm...shotz n slammers.

Also, map voting is back on-seems that when the rotation is not everyones cup of tea...some maps can empty the server...so viva democracy!
AftershocK are inactive for the time being. I would hope to have them or a version of them back together and playing in time to field a team for i34 in the summer.
After losing a few original team members for various reasons pub's tf2 team has decided to call it a day. After trying to continue with new recruits it was felt by team leader boomeh that things were just not the same and the time had come to fold the team. Good luck to the lads in whjateve they move onto now.

EnemyDown have announced their Spring Invite css tournament carrying a £1500 first prize. Top teams from across Europe have received invitations which should make for very competetive matches at the highest level.
Two officials for AftershocK this week. Tuesday see's them get their edcssl 9 campaign belatedly underway after last weeks re-schedule v Ebuyer.TCM are the opponants on de_nuke at 21.00, a chance for AftershocK to avenge last seasons loss on de_contra which gave TCM victory in div. 1 of edcssl 8.
On Thurday OBi provide the opposition in the last 8 of the Packard Bell Euro Open over 2 maps (de_contra & de_nuke). The match v OBi kicks of at 20.00 and gives pub's flagship team the chance to win through to a semi-final fixture versus the winners of Ebuyer and eSuba.
Aftershock are in action tonight at 20.00 in the PB Euro Open cup against Nocturnal Alcoholics. The match is over 2 maps, de_cpl_mill & de_nuke with a place in the last 8 at stake against the winners of OBi and So gaming.

AftershocK played [FuK] this week in a 2 mapper for a place in the last 16 of the PB Euro open. First map was de_inferno and after getting 6 rounds as Terrorists AftershocK comfotably locked down as CT for a 16-7 win.
Second map was de_train, again AftershocK starting as T and struggling a little to only put 5 rounds on the board at the end of the half. However a strong but close CT side saw pub^ come out on top 16-14, securing victory in only the final round.
Final Score 2-0 to pub^AftershocK
Overall a decent performance considering we had a bit of a mix line-up that had never played a single match together before.

Prize-Play have updated our ventrilo server to the new server version 3.0.2. This means users will have to uninstall their existing versions of ventrilo 2.3 and head over to the ventrilo website and download client version 3.0.1.

The TNWA Group today released X-ray Anti Cheat. XAC will be a cross gametype anti-cheat for use on all TNWA gaming sites including of course EnemyDown.
Where XAC differs from most anti-cheat programs is that TNWA will make the program available to the gaming community as a whole rather than keeping it to themselves. This will hopefully lead to XAC being adopted as the gaming community's preferred AC option.
AftershocK took on Infused.gaming in a re-scheduled edcssl8 fixture on de_train tonight.
After losing CT half 10-5, expectations were pretty low, but a fantastic T half going pub's way 11-4 saw AftershocK come out victorious. AftershocK play TCM in the last match of the season on Sunday at 22.00 needing a win to gurantee second place. If TCM were to pull of a shock and beat Ebuyer (also Sunday, at 21.00) then that second place could be turned into top spot.
A full match report may or may not appear at a later date depending on the trade winds.
Jason "Big Toe" Gardner, the UK's top nude gamer, will be looking after team ShotZ with immediate effect. Hopefully this will put some much needed organisation into the team and get them back active and enjoying playing again.

256 people entered the tournament and Pete won the final 2 maps to nil against Danielsan. Both finalists beat strong opposition in their route to the final, amongst Pete's "victims" were Beta from London Mint whilst Danielson beat fnatic's Proph in his semi final.
Pete won an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 cpu for his trouble and a night out in Dudley with Big Toe, Pete will also be appearing on This Morning with Fern Brittain and Phillip Schofield talking about his win on Friday 19th October.

Being as we have a free 50 slot vent server courtesy of prize-play, using it allows us to take teamspeak off our box and free up a bit of space. Complete Control have done a nice little preview of division 1 of edcssl 8 on their webby. EDCSSL 8 begins on Tuesday and AftershocK are fully expected to win every game and come out top of the top division.

2.) Adding a second PDU to rack2

5.) Installing rackmount screen & keyboard combos in all 3 racks
Actual downtime will be kept to a minimum and will be nearer the start of the maintenance window to reduce disruption as much as possible. An actual break down of downtime is as follows:
1.) ~1min for customers on 193.33.186.0/23 range whilst port re-negotiates to 1Gbit
2.) ~30mins for customers in rack2 whilst we add a PDU as well as move some kit to rack3
Please accept our sincere apologies for such short notice but I have only just received confirmation of when our new rack will be ready!

The final standings from i31 can be seen on cadred.org. Aftershock were seeded 15th and finished 13th-16th, not too shabby meeting seeding our first lan as a clan/team. Next year will be looking for top 6 finish at i33, and further strong performances at lans throughout the year.
The idea of regular updates from i31 was great in principle, but not workable in reality due to major drunkenness, intermittent lack of a pc and can't be arsedness. A review of events will no doubt appear soon..in the meantime there are the pictures
Welcome to pub's new home! The new website is finally live in all it's new glory. First thing is to thank {SeV} -s-L-y- from xpletusdesign.co.uk who has spent a lot of time and put in lot's of effort in constructing the new site for us...at no cost!!
